No NPA command in Vizcaya - Police

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – The New People’s Army (NPA) has no command in this landlocked province, police said yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Elmer Beltejar, provincial police director, said so as he disputed the claim on a supposed website of the underground movement that the NPA has reorganized and strengthened its presence in the province.

“The rebels will never reveal their real command structure. Intelligence reports reaching us indicate that there is no such organization. They are just trying to create an impression that they are growing in strength,” he said.

The NPA owned up to the fatal shooting of retired senior police officer Isabela Carpio for his alleged “sins against the people” in Dupax del Sur town last Jan. 18.
