The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has a new Eastern Mindanao
Command (Eastmincom) chief who will oversee all military operations
against Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and communist rebels.
Major General Jorge Segovia replaces Lieutenant General Arthur Tabaquero who is retiring on April 17.
Segovia, a member of Philippine Military Academy Class 1980, will be
replaced as Army 10th Infantry Division commander by Brigadier General
Ariel Bernardo, current chairman of the government panel in the
Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) with the
MILF.
Prior to his stint as 10ID head, Segovia was 2ID commander when the
military and police arrested 43 suspected New People’s Army rebels in a
resort in Morong, Rizal, on Feb. 6, 2010.
