MANILA, Philippines - The military yesterday denied that there were soldiers involved in the melee between farmers and security guards of Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac last Monday.
A report alleged that 15 soldiers were with the security guards of Hacienda Luisita during the incident, but the Army’s 7th Infantry Division denied this, said Armed Forces spokesman Col. Arnulfo Burgos Jr.
On Monday, security guards of Hacienda Lui-sita fired shots to scare off farmers who were asserting their ownership of the land.
