A woman was killed after a Philippine Army truck collided with a van in Oriental Mindoro on Wednesday, a police report said.
Maribel Castillo died instantly after the military truck crashed into the Nissan Urvan van she was riding along the national highway in Barangay Liedo in Victoria town at 5:35 a.m., Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group said, quoting the report.
The truck, which was driven by Corporal Eddie Cenal, reportedly lost its control and entered the lane of the incoming van, causing the head-on collision.
Twelve other passengers from both vehicles, including six soldiers, were also brought to different hospitals after they obtained injuries due to the accident.
Espina said that appropriate charges are already being prepared against Cenal. - Andreo C. Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
