Abu Sayyaf member nabbed in Basilan


MANILA, Philippines — Over a week after the arrest of an Abu Sayyaf member involved in kidnapping and murder, another fell prey to authorities in Basilan before dawn Thursday, a Philippine National Police official said.
Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that Harun Jaljalis a.k.a Indal was arrested by police in Sitio (sub-village) Malvar, Barangay (village) Mahayahay Maluso, Basilan around 1 a.m.
Cruz Jr said that a P350,000 reward was offered for information leading to his arrest.
He said that Jaljalis was allegedly involved in the beheading of a farmer at Golden Harvest plantation in Tairan Village, Lantawan, Basilan in June 2001 and also in the kidnapping of 50 elementary school children and teachers in Tumahubong, Basilan.
He said that JalJalis was arrested in 2011 but released due to legal technicalities.
