2 killed, 6 wounded in Agusan clash


DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Two people were killed and six others were wounded when suspected rebels attacked a militia outpost in Agusan del Norte early today.

The military reported that militiaman Christopher Rara and an unidentified rebel died in the five-hour firefight in San Antonio village in Remedios Romualdez town.

This after some 50 New People's Army (NPA) rebels swooped a Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) detachment in the area around 4:30 a.m.

The gun battle also wounded a soldier, a village councilor and four other civilians.
