Suspected rebels abduct, kill Cafgu member

MANILA, Philippines - Suspected New People's Army rebels abducted and brutally killed a Cafgu member in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, this morning.

Senior Superintendent Ruben Cariaga, Zamboanga Sibugay provincial police director, said at least 30 rebels raided the house of Cafgu member Ricky Model and snatched another Cafgu member, Felix Abordo, in Barangay Palinta, at around 6 a.m.

Cariaga said the rebels brought Abordo to a camote plantation, where he was tied and stabbed to death.

Pursuit operations against the rebels were ongoing.
