3 seriously wounded in Agusan Sur mining site attack

BUTUAN CITY — Armed men attacked a mining exploration site on the evening of November 1 in Rosario town, Agusan del Sur, a police report said.

According to the Rosario municipal police, the attack happened at the Datu Bulawanon Mining Exploration Company site at Ridge Mountain in Barangay Bayugan.

The attackers fired an M2O3 grenade launcher, hitting the outpost of Earth Saver Security Agency that secure the site and seriously wounding three of its security guards, a report from Caraga Police Regional Information office said.

Supt. Martin Gamba, head of the Caraga Police Regional Information office, confirmed the attack on the gold and copper exploration area.

The three wounded security personnel, who were not immediately identified, were brought to DO Plaza Memorial Hospital in Patin-ay, Prosperidad town.

Police are still investigating the incident to identify the attackers.
