Philippine Army vows to provide modern combat equipment for soldiers this year


The commanding general of the Philippine Army has visited Camp Melchor dela Cruz here for an exit visit to the army officials and personnel of the camp.

Lieutenant General Noel Coballes, Philippine Army chief,  visited the camp yesterday announcing that modern firearms and combat equipment  are set to be provided to the army soldiers this year.

Coballes said the provision of modern firearms and other combat equipment of soldiers is provided under the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program.

Among the combat equipment to be provided are firearms, first aid kits, combat shoes, bullet proof vests and other protective gears.

Coballes lauded the officials and personnel of the army division for continuously performing their duties in protecting the country and the people.

The army chief is set to retire next month when he met the mandatory retirement age in the military.
