PNoy makes mistake during PAF turnover rites

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino made a slight mistake during the departure honors for former Philippine Air Force (PAF) chief Oscar Rabena at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City Tuesday morning.

Aquino almost joined Rabena during his departure honors at the airbase. He belatedly realized he wasn't supposed to join Rabena on his departure march.

Rabena turned over the helm of the PAF to Major General Lauro Catalino dela Cruz during the change of command. Dela Cruz is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1980.

In his speech, Aquino thanked and praised Rabena for his years of service, even as he welcomed the new PAF chief.

Aquino assured the military that the modernization of the Armed Forces will continue, and that government will continue its good governance initiatives to make sure the military's work and sacrifices for the country are aptly appreciated.

At the same time. the President paid tribute to the Air Force's work during relief operations for victims of typhoon Sendong, especially noting how the PAF's lone C-130 made several trips to ferry rescue workers and 5 million kilos worth of relief supplies.
