1 dead in Davao ambush

MANILA, Philippines – A government militiaman was killed while the other was wounded when suspected members of the New People’s Army ambushed them in North Cotabato Sunday, the military reported today.

In a report, Lt.Col. Colonel Leopoldo Galon, spokesperson of Eastern Mindanao Command, said the incident happened in a remote village in Arakan town.

Galon said Cafgu Active Auxiliary members Jerry Mendoza and Rogelio Herbilla were on their way home on board a motorcycle after attending a relative's funeral when attacked by three gunmen.
