Soldier hurt in Agusan clash

BUTUAN CITY ,Philippines –

An Army soldier was seriously injured in an encounter with communist rebels in Sitio New Tubigon, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur on Friday.

Superintendent Martin Gamba, Caraga police regional information office chief, said a police report showed that Army Corporal Matias Auxtero Jr. sustained a bullet wound in the chest.

Reports said an undetermined number of New People’s Army rebels were also killed and injured in the gunfight with government troops.
